Priced extremely competitively, the wine is a proprietary blend of Grenache, Syrah and Tempranillo, mostly sourced from younger vines. The wine shows Umami tones with blood orange rind, sour red fruits and shades of green peppercorn on the nose. The mouthfeel has a seamless texture with magical length. Layers of Hoisin sauce with white pepper, black truffle shavings, salted Parma ham and roasted dates that all magically come together on the palate. The freshness is exceedingly good. This finishes exceedingly long and is remarkably easy to drink, as the 2017 Double Lucky is best enjoyed over the next six to eight years. —Owen Bargreen, owenbargreen.com
